I am Catherine Tannahill, Principal Dentist at The Smile Rooms and Advanced Facial Aesthetics Practitioner. I qualified at Manchester Dental School in 1993 and have since completed extensive postgraduate studies, including my Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and a Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics. I have worked in Scarborough, Bridlington and York, also teaching undergraduates in Leeds Dental Institute. I established The Smile Rooms in 2007, taking over a longstanding practice in Malton town centre and relocating it in 2011 to the current site, then joining the award winning Portman Healthcare group in 2018. I have a particular interest in Cosmetic Dentistry, Facial Aesthetics and Orthodontics. I continually strive to keep bang up to date with new ideas and technologies. I also have a role as a Regional Clinical Lead for Portman Healthcare, and look after several dental practices across the North East of England.
I love leading the fantastic team that we have at The Smile Rooms and looking at ways to delight our patients, with excellent customer service. If you need to improve your smile or wish to commit to long term Oral Health, then we are the practice for you.
When I am not working, I love to cycle, run, and potter in the garden.

I am Lise Woodward and I am an associate dentist at The Smile Rooms. I qualified from the centre of excellence The University of Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2003 and have worked in private practice since I qualified 15 years ago. I have worked in the U.K. since 2006 when I moved to York with my husband and fellow clinician Duncan.
During the last 15 years I have completed numerous dental courses including a years post graduate restorative course via Leeds University in 2008. I very much enjoy the restorative pathway with a strong passion and interest in prosthodontics - the construction of fixed/removal dentures, crowns - and bridges.
In my spare time I am devoted to my family - especially my husband Duncan and our daughter Eva. We also have our spoilt, food-loving, 12 year old black labrador Monty.
We enjoy regular trips back to Denmark to see family and friends. I enjoy the outdoors and an uplifting run in the beautiful English countryside or a coffee-trip to Copenhagen or Paris! I love a well made, beautifully presented, strong and tasty coffee (I am a Dane....!).
I'm looking forward to meeting all the patients at The Smile Rooms in Malton and to practice my very best on a daily basis in an environment where patients come first.

Safoora Shahab is a dentist at The Smile Rooms Malton and one of the newest additions to our fantastic team.
Safoora is from Ireland and graduated from the prestigious Trinity College Dublin with Honours. Since graduating she has completed numerous courses and is currently studying towards a Master’s degree in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry. Safoora is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh having completed her MFDS examinations. Safoora is also a certified bioclear method practitioner. This allows her to predictably treat common cosmetic issues such as black triangles, peg teeth and small gaps between teeth all without having to remove any of the patients own healthy tooth structure. This ultra conservative and totally additive technique is very popular amongst patients who share our ethos of minimally invasive dentistry.
Safoora has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and is constantly developing and improving her skills by keeping current with the most modern techniques and technology. She shares our goal of giving our patients confidence in their smiles by providing a high standard of pain free dentistry in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
Safoora has only worked as a private dentist since graduating and prides herself in providing the highest quality of dentistry to her patients. She moved to the UK in 2018 after getting married to Asad. They have a two year old son who takes up all their time outside of work. An ideal weekend is going to the Peak District and the many other beauty spots Yorkshire has to offer for a hike or cycle followed by a picnic overlooking a breathtaking view.

I live in York and enjoy spending time with my husband Jim and daughter Lucy. When I have the time, I enjoy going to music festivals and concerts and I also like to keep fit doing a bit of running. Hello I’m Kerry and I’m part of the hygienist team at The Smile Rooms.
I’ve worked in dentistry since 1989, firstly as a dental nurse then as a hygienist from 1999.
I have worked for The Smile Rooms since 2006, but Catherine and I first worked together from 2000 at a private practice in York. I thoroughly enjoy my job and have loved the work from day one, having a super support team here at the Smile Rooms is a great bonus.
I enjoy all aspects of the work, from helping phobic patients overcome their fears, to restoring a patient’s smile simply by removing unsightly stain.
To relax I enjoy photography, cake decorating and of course spending time with my husband, David & Son Jack; together we like walking, cycling & running.
