Meet the team

I am Catherine Tannahill, Principal Dentist at The Smile Rooms and Advanced Facial Aesthetics Practitioner. I qualified at Manchester Dental School in 1993 and have since completed extensive postgraduate studies, including my Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and a Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics. I have worked in Scarborough, Bridlington and York, also teaching undergraduates in Leeds Dental Institute. I established The Smile Rooms in 2007, taking over a longstanding practice in Malton town centre and relocating it in 2011 to the current site, then joining the award-winning Portman Healthcare group in 2018. I have a particular interest in Cosmetic Dentistry, Facial Aesthetics and Orthodontics. I continually strive to keep bang up to date with new ideas and technologies. I also have a role as Director of Dentistry at Portman Dental. I love leading the fantastic team that we have at The Smile Rooms and looking at ways to delight our patients, with excellent customer service. If you need to improve your smile or wish to commit to long term Oral Health, then we are the practice for you.

When I am not working, I love to cycle, run, and potter in the garden.

I am Lise Woodward and I am an associate dentist at The Smile Rooms. I qualified from the centre of excellence The University of Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2003 and have worked in private practice since I qualified 15 years ago. I have worked in the U.K. since 2006 when I moved to York with my husband and fellow clinician Duncan.

During the last 15 years I have completed numerous dental courses including a year’s post graduate restorative course via Leeds University in 2008. I very much enjoy the restorative pathway with a strong passion and interest in prosthodontics - the construction of fixed/removal dentures, crowns - and bridges.

In my spare time I am devoted to my family - especially my husband Duncan and our daughter Eva. We enjoy regular trips back to Denmark to see family and friends. I enjoy the outdoors and an uplifting run in the beautiful English countryside or a coffee-trip to Copenhagen or Paris! I love a well-made, beautifully presented, strong and tasty coffee (I am a Dane...!).

I'm looking forward to meeting all the patients at The Smile Rooms in Malton and to practice my very best on a daily basis in an environment where patients come first.

I am Ashraf Kheir-Eldin, Associate Dentist at the Smile Rooms Dental and Implant Clinic. I have qualified at Cairo Dental School in 1996 where I have also completed extensive postgraduate studies. I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate students in the University if Cairo till 2016. I have practiced in Cairo, Jeddah, London, Keighley and York. I have special interest in Esthetic Dentistry and Fixed Prosthodontics. I have more than 25 years of diverse experience as a clinician, academician, researcher and lecturer with a significant achievement in developing care taking strategies in Dentistry.

When I am not working I like to swim, jog and watch football.

Safoora is from Ireland and graduated from the prestigious Trinity College Dublin with Honours. Since graduating she has completed numerous courses and is currently studying towards a Master’s degree in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry. Safoora is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh having completed her MFDS examinations.

Safoora has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and is constantly developing and improving her skills by keeping current with the most modern techniques and technology. She shares our goal of giving our patients confidence in their smiles by providing a high standard of pain free dentistry in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Hi I'm Michael Davies, I Graduated with Merit from Leeds Dental Institute in 2015. After completion of the Dental Foundation Year, I went on to work and completed a Dental Core Trainee position in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Leeds General Infirmary. I have taught restorative dentistry as a clinical teaching fellow at Leeds Dental Institute and I am currently studying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Conscious sedation and a Postgraduate Diploma in Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dentistry.

At The Smile Rooms, I have limited my clinical practice exclusively to dental implants, complex extractions and sedation, referred to by other dentists as well as those that self-refer.
